A Douglas man remains in jail on armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a friend for $40 after smoking methamphetamine, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.
The report states that on May 30, 2026, at around 6:30 p.m., an officer responded to a Sparrow Road address in reference to an armed robbery. The complainant stated that Cube Contario Evans, 30, of Douglas, was mad with him because he didn’t take him to a store earlier. The complainant said that Evans had a knife and he demanded whatever the complainant had on him. The report says that Evans ended up taking $40 from the complainant.
Officers found Evans and questioned him. Though the deputies found Evans hiding in a closet at the Sparrow Road address, he said nothing had happened and the deputies were “just there to terrorize him and put a case on him for nothing.”
According to the report, a witness said that Evans and the complainant had just finished smoking meth together when Evans robbed him. Evans was arrested and charged with armed robbery. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail where he remains.
