Deputies charged a 30-year-old with battery, terroristic threats and acts, and other charges after he allegedly beat a family member and threatened to shoot him with a shotgun.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, deputies received a domestic dispute call on February 20, 2026, at around 8:45 a.m. The incident had taken place on Burl Mill Road. The report says that the complainant reported that Jacob Etherton, 30, had gotten mad at him and chased him with a knife. The two were related.
The report also says that Etherton had beaten him and threatened to shoot him with a shotgun if he called 911. A witness saw the incident happen and reported that Etherton also told her that he would shoot her if she called 911. The complainant had marks on his face consistent with being in an altercation.
A deputy located Etherton on Burl Mill Road. The report says that he was unarmed and he denied hitting the complainant. The report also says that Etherton denied ever having a knife. He did, however, admit to arguing with the complainant.
Etherton was arrested and charged with battery, two counts of terroristic threats and acts, and violation of a family violence order. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
