A 37-year-old with a lengthy criminal record and who had just been released from prison was arrested and jailed earlier this month after deputies responded to his residence for a possible weapons call.
An incident report says that on July 30, 2026, a deputy responded to a Church Road address regarding a possible person with a weapon whom neighbors had heard yelling loudly. When the responding officer arrived, he found the subject, identified as Colby Leon Davenport, 37, of Douglas, sitting on the side of the house “yelling and screaming.”
The report says that Davenport wouldn’t speak to the officer. Another occupant of the home said that Davenport had just been released from prison and had a history of drug use.
Other officers arrived and they asked Davenport if he had used any drugs. The report says that Davenport reached into his pocket and pulled out a bag that contained suspected methamphetamine. Davenport was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center by EMS. On August 5, 2026, Davenport was booked into the Coffee County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website, Davenport was released from prison on July 16 of this year. He had been serving a five-sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Since 2014, Davenport has served four prison sentences on various charges, including distribution of marijuana and methamphetamine, burglary, and a firearms violation.
