A 42-year-old Douglas man was arrested and jailed after he allegedly walked on to a neighbor’s property and started a fight with two individuals.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, on December 25, 2025, at around 6:30 p.m., John Morgan McClurg, 42, of Douglas, was seen walking out of an abandoned home on Vine Road. The complainant stated that no one is supposed to be on the property and he recognized McClurg from allegedly having been involved in illegal activity in the area. The report says that the complainant told McClurg through the window of his vehicle to leave the property.
The complainant then went to a neighbor’s home. While he was there, the report says that McClurg came to that home and confronted the complainant and the property owner “in a violent manger.” A fight ensued, the report says, and more people ended up getting involved.
McClurg later stated that he had ben playing Nerf guns with his step-son and some of the Nerf bullets had gone into his neighbor’s yard. He went onto the property to get the Nerf bullets and that’s when the complainant confronted him.
Ultimately, the responding officers determined that McClurg had been the aggressor in the incident and placed him under arrest. McClurg was charged with criminal trespass and battery. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
