50-year-old Christy Burkett of Douglas remains in jail on illegal drug charges as a result of a traffic stop conducted in West Green last month.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, an officer stopped Burkett on Mark Mobley Road for failure to maintain lane. When the officer spoke to Burkett, she admitted to having illegal drugs in the vehicle. Other officers arrived and searched the vehicle, as well as Burkett’s camper, which was located on Broxton-West Green Highway.
Inside the camper, a drug dog alerted in two rooms. Detectives found digital scales but no drugs, according to the report.
The officers conducted field tests on the drugs found in Burkett’s vehicle. The drugs tested positive for methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. Burkett was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail on April 1, 2026. She was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II Controlled Substance. Burkett has not been released.
