Law enforcement officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Meadowbrook Lane in Coffee County Thursday morning where the bodies of a man and woman were discovered, the apparent victims of multiple gunshot wounds. The GBI identified the deceased as Meghan Bowen, 33, and James Harden, 39. Both are from Coffee County.

GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Marko Jones stated the sheriff’s office was dispatched to the residence after a family member reported the bodies of the deceased. Sheriff’s officials contacted the GBI for assistance shortly after arriving.

“We are currently conducting interviews, following leads, and continuing to process the crime scene,” Jones said. “This was a tragic event, and our hearts truly go out to the families of those involved.”

At least one person of interest in the murders has been identified, but Jones stated no arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with informtation that could assist in the case is asked to contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office or the Douglas office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
