Mary Elizabeth Thrift, age 63, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at University of Florida Health in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Mrs. Thrift was born on August 18, 1952, in Alma, GA to the late Daniel Douglas and Genell Carter Douglas.

Survivors include: her husband, Alton Leonard Thrift of Douglas, GA; two daughters, Nicole Thrift (Luke) Christian and Lori Beth (Randall) Peterson both of Douglas, GA; son, David Leonard (Amber) Thrift of Nicholls, GA; two brothers, Fred Douglas of Douglas, GA and D.A. Douglas of Baxley, GA; four sisters, Loyce Marie Chapman of Ashburn, GA, Sarah Ogden, Carolyn Holton and Hilda Hastings all of Douglas, GA; five grandchildren, Emma Kate Dobbins, Carter Christian both of Douglas, GA, Dakota Thrift, Abbigail Thrift both of Douglas, GA and Rhys Peterson of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Robert “Chip” Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow at Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
