Four people are behind bars and one murder suspect remains at large following an investigation into the death of an Alma man.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Douglas Regional Office was requested by the Alma Police Department to assist in a homicide investigation that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Tony Overstreet, Jr.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, officers with the Alma Police Department  responded to East 11th Street and North Ware Street in Alma in reference to a report of shots being fired and an abandoned car.  Upon arrival, officers found a rental vehicle that had been left in the intersection of East 11th and North Ware St. The driver of the vehicle was not located by officers. Due to the condition of the vehicle, officers secured it and took it into police custody.

On Saturday, June 18, around 9 a.m., Overstreet’s body was located by a family member near the intersection of East 11th Street and North Ware Street. Overstreet was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds, and his body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.

GBI agents and Alma police investigators obtained arrest warrants Wednesday for the following individuals in Overstreet’s death:

Pierre Alston, 24, was charged with one count of felony murder, one count of armed robbery, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Alston is currently being held in the Bacon County Jail.

Jerome Maxwell, 20, was charged with one count of felony murder, one count of armed robbery, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Maxwell is being held in the Ware County Jail.

Keitric McCaskey, 21, was charged with one count of felony murder, one count of armed robbery, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. McCaskey is still at large.

Lataysha Morgan, 20, was charged with one count of false statements and writings; concealment of facts. Morgan was transported to the Bacon County Jail.

Nyiesha Nails, 20, was charged with one count of false statements and writings; concealment of facts. Nails was transported to the Bacon County Jail.

Authorities say the investigation is active and ongoing and requests anyone with information pertaining to the case to contact the Alma Police Department at (912) 632-8751 or the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office at (912) 389-4103.
