Wiregrass Georgia Technical College President Dr. Tina K. Anderson recently recognized members of the Board of Directors whose terms have expired.  At the June meeting, board members Sam Allen (Lowndes), Guy Daughtrey (Cook), and Terri Lupo (Lowndes) completed their terms and were recognized for their service to the students, faculty, and staff of Wiregrass.

“I have certainly enjoyed my time at the college,” shared Sam Allen. “I have learned a lot and appreciate the great staff; I can’t compliment them enough.”

The Wiregrass Board of Directors serves both in a community advisory capacity and in a limited capacity, performing certain oversight responsibilities as designated by state board. The local board is comprised of members from the business and industrial communities from the eleven-county service area of Wiregrass.  Board members are selected because of their experience, ability, and dedication to deal with issues that relate to the mission of occupational education and are without contractual, employment, or personal financial investment in the school.

Outgoing board member Terri Lupo of Valdosta shared, “This is a fantastic team.  It has been a great time serving.”

Outgoing board member Guy Daughtrey thanked the administrative staff for being part of changing people’s lives at Wiregrass.

Wiregrass administration welcomed new board members at the July meeting.  New members include Jason Manley (Lowndes), Freddie Broome (Lowndes), Brad Shealy (Brooks), and Chase Daughtrey (Cook). The new board members were welcomed and sworn into office, their term expires in 2020.  Other board members are Barry Bloom (Coffee), Terrell Jacobs (Coffee),  Andi McWhorter (Irwin), Col. Ret. Ronald Mitchell (Cook), Jennifer Powell (Lowndes), Sandy Sanders (Chair-Lanier), Steve Sirmans (Atkinson), Florence Staten (Echols), Stephen Sumner (Berrien), and Hal Wiley (Vice Chair-Ben Hill).

Board  meeting dates are scheduled for the second Thursday of each month at 12 p.m., with the exception of the 2016 TCDA Leadership Conference in October.  Meeting dates and locations are October 3-5 in Savannah for the 2016 TCDA/TCFA Leadership Summit, November 10 on the Coffee Campus, January 12, 2017 on the Cook Campus, March 9, 2017 on the Ben Hill-Irwin Campus, April 13, 2017 on the Coffee Campus, and June 8 on the Valdosta Campus.
