4-H TARGET SPORTS SIGN UP

4-H tries to offer a wide range of target sports programs for 4-H members each year. Programs available include: Archery (4th – 12th grade), 22 Rifle (9th – 12th grade), Air Rifle & Air Pistol (7th – 12th grade), BB Rifle (4th – 8th grade), and Shotgun (7th – 12th grade). Sign up for the Target Sports Programs begins now and will end on Thursday, September 15, at 5 p.m.

These programs are dependent on volunteers to organize and run them. If you know of an adult who would like to help with one of the programs, please have them contact the 4‑H office at 384-1402.

A Certified Coaches Training will be held at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in December and in January. Interested adults need to sign up now so that you can complete all of the necessary volunteer paperwork.

4-H HOLIDAY CARD CONTEST

4-H members, if art is your thing, we have a contest for you.  All budding artists are encouraged to create a drawing for the Georgia 4-H Holiday Card Artwork Contest. Entries must be turned in to the Coffee County 4-H office by 4 p.m. on September 30. The rules are: drawing must be student’s original work and drawn on an 8½ x 5½ inch (or 5½ x 8½ inch) sheet of white, unlined paper; it must include 4‑H in the theme and be a universal holiday theme; it must be colorful; it must be accompanied by an official entry form available from the 4‑H office. If you don’t follow these rules, the drawing will be disqualified.

All 4‑H members are eligible to participate.  Please contact the 4-H staff at 912-384-1402 if you have any questions about this contest.

PET THERAPY VISITATION

Coffee 4-H members are invited to participate in the monthly pet therapy visitation program. This month’s visitation will take place at Manor House Living Center (formerly Summer’s Landing/Oxton Place) on Tuesday, September 20, from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Friendly pets that are current with their vaccinations are welcome to come with you. If you bring a pet, please enter the building through the entrance at the back center of the building. Pets do not need to come through the front doors as these areas are also dining areas.

We will hold next month’s visitation at Shady Acres on Monday, October 3, during the same times. You should come to the back porch on the west side of the building for this visitation.

Please contact the 4-H office if you have any questions about the pet therapy visitation program, especially about the types of pets welcome.

If you have questions about the Coffee County Extension or 4-H program, please feel free to contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402. Remember, we are YOUR local connection to the University of Georgia.
