Alma police are searching for several people believed to have recently passed over $700 in counterfeit checks at a local store.

On Oct. 4, a black male and black female entered Three D’s (Valero) on S. Pierce St. in Alma and cashed two counterfeit checks, fraudulently receiving $767.87.  The following day, APD learned the checks were counterfeit, created in the names of a local business and bank, with routing numbers belonging to a different bank.

The two are believed to have been accompanied by two other black males.

Anyone who recognizes either of these individuals is asked to contact the Alma Police Department at 912-632-8751 or your local law enforcement agency.  All businesses in south Georgia should closely watch for these individuals as APD believes they are traveling the area passing counterfeit checks.

In a separate, unrelated incident on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Alma Police Department and the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 130 Mullis Drive.

Officers located ¼ pound of marijuana and a variety of various controlled substances, mainly Tramadol and Xanax.  Dexter Reynolds (25) of Alma and Lacy Boatright (30) of Alma were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1000’ of public housing and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1000’ of public housing: officers also seized $1,191.00 cash.

Reynolds was currently out of jail on bond following a September 15, 2016 arrest for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute after officers seized (15) Tramadol and $1,578.00 cash.
