New architecture and “STEAM” activities highlight Nov. youth programs at Satilla libraries

Satilla Regional Library will be holding the following programs during the month of November for children, tweens, and teens. Come and join the fun at Satilla Regional Library! Holiday Closings

Satilla Regional Library will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2016 in observance of Veteran’s Day and on Thursday, November 24-Saturday, November 26, 2016 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Audio Spot Auditions for Children and Teens Ages 9-18 years of age!

Come and audition for a public service announcement to possibly be played on the radio! Auditions will be held at all locations in Douglas, Broxton, Ambrose, Pearson, Willacoochee, and Nicholls throughout the year. Please call Miss Julie at (912) 384-4667 ext. 222 to schedule an appointment at any of our locations. A permission slip must be signed by a parent/guardian before auditioning if under 18 and given to Miss Julie. Permission slips are available at each branch location or by going online to http://www.srlsys.org/NEW_Audio_Permission_Slip.pdf.

Board Games, Cards, and Puzzles for Children and Teens

All branches include an assortment of board games, cards, and puzzles that can be played at any time. Come and check one out to use at each location.

NEW! Douglas STEAM for School-Age Children Program

Come and join the fun with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) as the group works on a project for each child incorporating different aspects of STEAM each month for six months. Lots of fun and hands-on experiences! Come to our first meeting and see what we will be working on. This program will run from November 2016-April 2017.

First Meeting: Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room at the Douglas/Coffee County Public Library.

This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Technology Act Grants to States Program.

New! Douglas Pre-Teen & Teen Architecture Program

Come and learn about different types of architecture and create one!  There will be various stations including a specific architectural structure to create, build your own, and art. This is a great educational and interactive program for older students. This program will be held once a month for six months: November 2016-April 2016.
