On Tuesday, May 4, the Coffee County Schools honored those who have retired this school year and those who are retiring this spring. At the annual reception, the retirees were honored by having family, friends, and members of the community come and celebrate their educational careers and their new chapter of life.

The event was held at the Atrium Event Center in downtown Douglas. Special thanks is given to the following: Coffee County School Nutrition Association for providing refreshments; the Coffee County Retired Educators Association for serving as hostesses; agriculture students Abbie and Alex Vaughn (Coffee Middle), Leana Atkinson (GWC Freshman Campus) and Kara Vaughn and Alana Atkinson (Coffee High) under the direction of Courtney Branch, Spencer Highsmith, and Josh Rogers for creating the floral arrangements displayed on each table; Delorice’s Florist for providing the Honoree corsages; Tania Myers, Choral Instructor from Coffee High for providing the music; Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce for always being happy to help with this annual event.

The 2017 retirees are: Brenda Anderson, Karen Batten, Daisy Buchanan, Sherri Carver, Raymond Cooper, Billie Jean Day, Chera Ganger, Sonya Malphus Graham, Jacquelyn Greene, Clara Hayes, Ann Horner, Sandra Hursey, Chris Jenkins, Sandy Joiner, Christine Jordan, Tommie Strickland Mancil, Sue Miller, Mary Preston, Sabrina Rhoades, Bonnie Rowe, Carl Smith, Mattie Gail Stevens, Renee Thompson, Eddie Vickers, and Mary White.
