Sherry Mae Horton, age 59, of Douglas, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Ms. Horton was born on September 10, 1957, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Ludell Bowen Horton Davis and the late James “J.D.” Daniel Horton.

Survivors include: her son, Gregory Lott of Douglas, Ga.; stepdaughter, Lynn Spivey of Broxton, Ga.; mother and stepfather, Ludell and Lynn Davis of Douglas, Ga.; sister, Anita (Ricky) Corbitt of West Green, Ga.; two brothers, John (Brenda) Horton of Nicholls, Ga. and Franklin (Ann) Horton of Douglas, Ga.; two stepsisters, Debra Morgan Carpenter of Jacksonville, Fl. and Brenda Deen of Douglas, Ga.; stepbrother, Johnny Morgan of Douglas, Ga.; sister-in-law, Debbie (Robbie Dale) Bazemore of Pearson, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Sheila) Lott of Pridgen, Ga. and Ronnie Lott of Pridgen, Ga.; four step-grandchildren, Cory Martin, Drew Spivey, Austin Martin, and Raven Spivey all of Broxton, Ga.; niece, Kendra Carter Taylor; and five nephews, Mickey Braddy, James Corbitt, Richard Corbitt, Mark Horton, and Alex Horton. She was preceded in death by her father, J.D. Horton; brother, James C. Horton; and mother-in-law, Geraldine Lott.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the vhapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Kirkland officiating. Interment followed at Elam Harper Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
