Middle and High School students from Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy, Coffee County High School, Georgia Washington Freshman Campus, Coffee Middle School, Valdosta Early College Academy and Wiregrass’ Adult Education classes participated in the Annual Get Wired event on the Coffee Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. Over 1,000 students enjoyed fun interactive activities that engaged the students to engage in to learn about the programs as well as possible careers in related fields.

The activities were designed to share about the programs and hopefully spark an interest for a future career. The activities ranged from healthcare bingo where they learned medical terminology, to a “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” game sponsored by the Business Management and Business Technology programs. “This is a fun day where students are able to interact with our instructors and students, ask questions and learn something new about a possible future career for them as well as our programs,” shared Brooke Jaramillo, Executive Director of High School Services.
Local businesses also participated in the activities of the day. They were; Douglas Fire Department, Trace Staffing, GBI, Premium Peanut, and Wells Fargo. Students were able to ask questions about the many different careers employed by each.

The students completed bingo cards as they moved through each activity, turning in their completed cards at the end of the day for a t-shirt. Sponsors of the event include Wiregrass Foundation North, Wiregrass Foundation South, and Wiregrass’ Student Government Association. For more information on how high school students can earn college credit at no cost through the Dual Enrollment Program email highschoolservices@wiregrass.edu or call 229-333-2100, or visit wiregrass.edu.
