Susan Lott Clark donates autobiography to SGSC

Susan Lott Clark, well-known civic leader and author from Waycross, donated a copy of her new autobiography recently to South Georgia State College (SGSC). “Let’s Talk About Me, 92 Years Of Activities In My Life” was presented to SGSC President Dr. Ingrid Thompson-Sellers and SGSC Director of Libraries Jacqueline Vickers and will be available in the library’s special collections section.

“It was a distinct privilege for me to meet Mrs. Clark on our Waycross Campus and to accept her autobiography on the college’s behalf,” said Dr. Sellers. “Between our delightful conversation and the opportunity to thumb through the pages of her book, it is so evident just how much of a treasure Mrs. Clark is to this community.”

Born January 12, 1925 into a family that includes four of the founders of Waycross, Clark’s story includes growing up in Waycross-Ware County, her time at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., and Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., her marriage to the late Dr. S. William Clark, Jr., and her service to the community through various projects. She played an instrumental role in the founding and creation of both the Okefenokee Heritage Center and Southern Forest World in Waycross.

Clark has published a total of eight books and has also collaborated with others to submit a successful application naming Waycross’s Lott Cemetery to the National Register of Historic Places. Her autobiography will be available for use in SGSC’s libraries by SGSC students, faculty, staff and the general public.
