Wednesday evening, Jan. 10, the Alma Police Department responded to a theft of motor vehicle call on E. 7th St. Thursday, Jan. 11, the Waycross Police Department recovered the vehicle in Waycross and apprehended the driver of the vehicle. APD has charged Johnny Antoan Batton, 20 of Alma, with theft by taking-motor vehicle. Batton is also facing charges in Waycross regarding this incident. Batton was previously out of jail on bond for the Sept. 1, 2016 theft of a motor vehicle which occurred on E. 12th St in Alma. Batton was apprehended by Waycross Police in that vehicle also.
