Bennie Dockery, Sr., age 87, of Broxton, GA passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Dockery was born on January 17, 1931, in Douglas, Georgia to the late George W. Dockery and Phoebe Lott Dockery.

He was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church, Broxton, GA.

Mr. Dockery Sr was preceded in death: by a brother, George (Dock) Dockery; and sisters: Libba Burch and Mary Ellen Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife,m Waunell Luke Dockery of Broxton,GA.; son, Bennie Jr. and wife Lynn Dockery of Broxton, GA.; daughter, Marie and husband Henry Medders of Broxton, GA; grandchildren: Brent and wife Marnie Smith, Dana and husband Jason Dunn, Shay and husband Kyle Byrd, Stacey and husband Chris Hill, Bart Medders, Courtney and husband Josh Hersey; great-grandchildren: Caroline Smith, Trent Smith, Jacob Dunn, Jenna Dunn, Carter Luke Byrd, Charles Byrd, Ariel Hill, Abbie Grace Hill, Ethan Hersey and Jase Hersey.

Funeral Services was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 3 P.M. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home where Rev. Robert Wigley officiated.

Pallbearers were Brent Smith, Bart Medders, Chris Hill, Kyle Byrd, Josh Hersey, Jason Dunn, Trent Smith, Jacob Dunn, Carter Luke Byrd and Charles Byrd. Congregational songs were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” with pianist Barbara Rish.

Interment followed at Luke Cemetery, Bridgetown, GA.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
