Harvey McKinnon, age 92, of Douglas, passed away on Monday October 1, 2018 at Vista Park following an extended illness. Mr. McKinnon was born on January 16, 1926 in Coffee County, the son of the late Monroe McKinnon Sr. and Mary Jane Carver McKinnon.

 

Mr. McKinnon was a farmer, a member and deacon of St. Illa Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rudine Fussell McKinnon and five brothers, Edward McKinnon, Arlen McKinnon, Andrew McKinnon, Randall McKinnon, and Bobby McKinnon.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Alisha Shaw (husband Ken) of Douglas and Janice Beasley (husband Herman) of Douglas; two sons, Clinton McKinnon (wife Marie) of Ambrose and Jerry McKinnon (wife Kem) of Douglas; five sisters, Willie Mae McKinnon of Ocilla, Louise Maulden of Douglas, Florene Phillips of Douglas, Martha Denton (husband Billy) of Broxton and Betty Jean Soles of Willacoochee; brother Monroe McKinnon Jr. (wife Marie) of Willacoochee; eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a special friend, Dorothy Cliett of Denton.

 

Funeral services were held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 11 am at St. Illa Baptist Church with Rev. George Carroll Paulk and Rev. Bobby Fussell (graveside) officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Military honors were rendered by Ft. Stewart Honor Guard.

 

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
