Mrs. Vera Emma Pearson Aldridge, age 82 of Douglas, passed away Saturday evening, October 6, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Aldridge was born July 5, 1936 to the late Melvin Pearson and the late Lovie Dixon Pearson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Isam Aldridge, and a daughter, Joyce Ann Aldridge.

 

Mrs. Aldridge, a native of Mershon, was retired from Milliken and Company where she had worked on the heat set line for many years. She was a faithful member of Harvest Time Church of God.

 

Survivors include: Children Rueben Aldridge of Sylvania, Jacqueline Barnes, Jo Ann Smith and Peggy Aldridge, all of Douglas, and Daniel Aldridge of Vidalia; sister Eva Carlyle of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother Eugene Pearson of Cordele; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends

 

The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, October 10, 2018 at 11 am at Harvest Time Church of God with Rev. Bobby Pope and Rev. Levi Jones officiating. The interment will follow in the Shiloh Church Cemetery near Blackshear in Pierce County. Mrs. Aldridge will be placed in the church at 10 am to lie in state until the funeral hour.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 8, 2018 and Tuesday evening, October 9, 2018 from 6 to 9 pm at Ricketson Funeral Home.

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
