Jarius Warren ‘J.W.’ Brooks

Mr. Jarius “J.W.” Warren Brooks, age 95, of Broxton, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Coffee Regional Medical Center due to an extended illness. Mr. Brooks was born on January 1, 1924, in Milan to the late Leon Brooks and Carrie Francis Averett Brooks. He was a farmer and a World War II veteran.

 

Survivors include: Daughter Deborah Ann and husband Marvin Wooten of Broxton; son Jerry Brooks of Broxton; grandchildren Fran and husband Dale Merritt of Douglas, Michele Newell and husband J. C. of Broxton, Jamie Kight of Duluth, Amy and husband Michael Johnston of Lilburn, and Miranda and husband Ben Paulk of Douglas; great-grandchildren Candis Polk, Jered Merritt, Angela Newell, Amber Newell, Larkin Johnston, Lucy Johnston, McKenzie Paulk, and Anna Paulk; great-great-grandchildren Sara Polk, Abbiegale Polk, Brooklynn Polk, Delilah Merritt, Jaylinn Merritt, Matthew Palmer, and Jaci Palmer.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Dockery Brooks; grandchild Kris Kight; and daughter-in-law Maryanna Brooks.

 

Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Den Weniger and Johnny Wayne Jowers officiating.

 

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
