Douglas and Coffee County, let’s talk about IT! Mental health is a vital part of every person’s well-being. The public is invited to join community agencies for the first Douglas-Coffee County Community Mental Health Fair on Saturday, May 18, 2019, 10 am-2 pm, at Central Square Complex, located at 200 South Madison Avenue.

“Recently, our community has experienced loss of life due to mental health, illnesses, and car accidents.  We are hosting our first Community Mental Health Fair in the hopes of helping citizens find resources available in our city and county,” says City Manager Charles Davis.  “Whether it’s mental health, addiction, or any other aspect of life burden effecting someone, we hope this joint effort of agencies will assist them in finding the resource they need.”

Agencies will be on hand to provide information on suicide prevention, depression, bullying, addiction, depression, and mental illness.  Speakers are scheduled throughout the event to talk about mental welfare and the recovery process.  Resources will also be available for families of those effected with mental illness and other life topics.

Sponsors include Unison Behavioral Health, City of Douglas, Coffee Regional Medical Center, Douglas Police Department, Premium Waters, McRae Coca-Cola, and other community agencies.

This event is free to all community members and participating organizations.  Organizations wishing to participate should contact Angie Mock at 912-449-7101 or amock@unisonbh.com.
