Our beloved mother, Mable Colson-Paulk was born June 26, 1931 in Dodge County (although Mrs. Paulk disagreed with the public record). She was born to the late Kibbie Colson and Dollie McCormick-Colson. She was the 12th of 13 children. Mrs. Mable Colson-Paulk was preceded in death by her siblings, Annie Mae, Christine, Walter, Annie Pearl, Stanfield, Rosie Lee, Beathly, Lemon, Kibbie Jr., Alberta, Essick, and Bobby.

She was educated in the Coffee County Public School System. At an early age, her parents made St. John Missionary Baptist Church their home. She served in many areas of the church, which included the Adult choir, Youth Choir President, Sunday school teacher, and as mother of the church. Mrs. Paulk continued to serve and worship at St. John Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her. She was also a member of Queenell #243 Order of the Eastern Stars.

A lover of people, she was a great cook who loved cooking. She touched many lives as she went about doing the work of the Lord. Many lives were encouraged and many hearts were lifted by the example of love and caring she demonstrated on a daily basis.

On Thursday, June 27, 2019, her earthly journey came to an end. However, we rejoice in knowing she was prepared for her journey through her relationship with God, and she is free of suffering and pain. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Walter Paulk.

The joy and love shared during her journey on this side will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted children, Mr. Ira Lester Paulk, Mrs. Mae Shaw and her husband, Lacy, Mr. Bobby Paulk and wife Diann, Mr. Kenneth Paulk, Mrs. Margaret Reed and husband, Larry, Mrs. Jacquelyn Wells and husband, Larry, Mr. Wallace Paulk, and Mrs. Yvonne Hutchinson and husband, Jeff ; beloved grandchildren, Christa Joi and Cara Joi, Keith, Yolanda, Kim, and Zabrina, Mamie, Qwaima, Tonya, Keashea and Thomas, Keita, Jamasca, Angela and Arkenya, Brandon and Moya, Cheokie, Michael, Justin, Jasmine Simone, Devonte, Breanna, Anton and Raven, Sheketa; Brother-in-law Allen Paulk and wife Betty; fFifty-three great-grandchildren; host of great-great grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, to include, Mrs. Geneva Paulk-Griffith, Cynthia Paulk-Shaw, Bennie Paulk, Jr., Doria Johnson, Freddie Johnson, Jimmie Johnson, Linda Newsome, Mary Lee, Danny Colson, Larry Colson, Luevenia King, MacArthur Colson, Richard Williams, Ulysses Colson, and Daniel Colson; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include her beloved friends, Martha Mae Goodman, Dede Bell Parker and Eloise King.

Mable Colson-Paulk, the wife of the late Walter Paulk, passed away June 27, 2019. Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Young’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery.
