CRMC donates stretchers to Wiregrass paramedic program

The Paramedicine program at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently accepted a donation of two hydraulic stretchers from Coffee Regional Medical Center.  “The generous donation of the Stryker hydraulic stretchers by Coffee Regional will enable our Pre-Paramedic and our Paramedic students to perform skills and pre-hospital scenarios.  This is the same equipment that is currently used in the field by seasoned EMT’s and Paramedics in real world emergencies,” shared Mark Ponder EMS/Paramedicine Instructor.

“Coffee Regional Medical Center is proud to partner with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in their outstanding education and training programs. Our donation of the two power stretchers is one small way we can support and champion their efforts to prepare outstanding emergency medical technicians for our community.”  Vicki Lewis, President & CEO Coffee Regional Medical Center

The Paramedic program is offered as an Applied Associate in Science Degree program or Diploma program that generally takes students two years to complete.  The program accepts new students each Spring Semester on the Coffee Campus.  The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Learn more about the Paramedicine program and other programs at Wiregrass’ website at wiregrass.edu.  The Paramedicine Diploma program qualifies for the HOPE Career Grant, where if you qualify for the HOPE and/or Zell Miller Grant you could be eligible for additional monies that could pay for college tuitions, fees, and books.  Wiregrass is now accepting applications for Fall Express term, classes start September 19.  If your business would like to learn how you could make a donation to any Wiregrass program, please contact Crissy Staley, Executive Director of Fundraising, at 229-333-2124 or by email at Crissy.staley@wiregrass.edu.
