JoAnn Spivey Metts, age 75, of Douglas, passed away on Saturday morning November 9, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.

Mrs. Metts was born on November 8, 1944 in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Joseph Quitman Spivey Sr. and the late Ethel Mae Simmons Spivey. She worked as a clerk with the Coffee County Commission Office for over forty years and attended Rocky Pond Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Lanier Metts of Douglas; two daughters, Rhonda M. Dorsey (husband Ricky) of Douglas and Renee M. Roberson (husband Terry) of Douglas; four grandchildren, Clayton Roberson of Augusta, Russ Roberson of Douglas, Cole Dorsey of Douglas, and Allison Dorsey of Douglas; brother, Joseph Quitman Spivey Jr. (wife Jamie) of Broxton; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday November 11, 2019 at 4 pm at Rocky Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Stone, Rev. Lonnie Spikes officiating with Terry Roberson giving a eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coffee County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group, PO Box 1203, Douglas, GA 31534..

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
