Mr. Jose Felipe Alvarado was born on August 29, 1934 to Eladio Alvarado and Cecilia Bermdz in Camo, Puerto Rico.

During his life journey, he was self-employed and worked in agricultural citrus. He moved to Douglas, Georgia and met the lovely Margie Payne. Together they formed a family. She was the love of his life, who preceded him in death.

He was known in the community as a loving and hardworking father. Many friends and children knew him as the local Candy Man. He was also known to be a big jokester. His favorite activities were fishing, wrestling and watching the movie “Smoky and the Bandit.” He departed this earthly life on February 7, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He is survived by: Son Bardo Alvarado; two daughters, and loving children he called his own, Linda Long, Billy Payne, Richard Payne, Steven Payne and Mary Walk, who preceded him in death; sisters Aida Alvarado Hall, Margie Alvarado, Lydia Alvarado; brothers Porforio Alvarado and Cruz Alvarado; two brothers preceded him in death; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

The Alvarado and Bermdz family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who has been so very helpful during the illness and death of our beloved father, brother, grandfather, and uncle.
