Carlos Wilbur ‘Red’ McKinnon, 89

Mr. Carlos Wilbur “Red” McKinnon, age 89 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. McKinnon was born October 20, 1930 to the late Jessie McKinnon and the late Fanny McKinnon. Mr. McKinnon was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Tanner McKinnon; brothers Aubrey McKinnon and Sarge McKinnon; and sister, Ivaleen Mayne.

Mr. McKinnon, a native of Coffee County, was a locally known farmer and pastor. He was a sergeant with the 11th Airborne Infantry, PM Company in Fort Campbell, KY. He served three years and seven months during the Korean War. Mr. McKinnon was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Nicholls and he also attended The Sanctuary in Douglas.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mary Janell “Nell” Minix McKinnon of Douglas, GA; daughter Rose Marie Hoit and husband Robert of Alabama; grandchild Bobby Hoit of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The graveside service and interment will be held, Friday morning, July 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Hall Cemetery (Dry Creek Baptist Church) with Rev. David Davis, Rev. Jimbo Steed and Rev. Heath Carver officiating.

Please note that due to restrictions of attendance and social distancing being placed on funeral homes by the CDC concerning the spread and containment of COVID-19, please observe their guidelines.
