Pauline Bray Merritt, age 91, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Mrs. Merritt was born on January 9, 1929 in Coffee County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Franklin Bray and Elevener Lee Bray.

 

Mrs. Merritt had been attending First Congregational Christian Church, Douglas, Georgia.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elie Joe Merritt and two sisters, Virginia Griffin and Louise Ward.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Jan Shrouder (Billy Joe) of Douglas, GA; granddaughter, Kelly Shrouder Waldron (Banner) of Douglas, GA; great granddaughter, Kate Jolie Waldron of Douglas, GA; brother, Billy Bray (Jean Carol) of Blackshear, GA; sister, Joyce Harper (Larry) of Ambrose, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00am at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Rutland and Rev. Joe Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Banner Waldron III, Keith Newell, Paul Gillis, Chad Shrouder, Michael Merritt and Lamar Merritt.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10am until time of service at 11:00am at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and wear protective masks in accordance with the guidelines concerning the coronavirus.
