Deputies make arrests in theft cases

On September 15, 2020, Coffee County deputies responded to a residence on Eagle Lake Lane in reference to recovery of a firearm. The complainant told officers he had found the weapon beside his mailbox while mowing his yard. The complaint noticed that a window in the residence was open, Deputies checked the inside of the residence to make sure no one was inside. While clearing the residence Deputies noticed a significant amount of blood leading to a damaged gun cabinet with glass laying on the floor.  The complaint told Deputies that a 12-gauge shotgun was missing.  Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division responded and began an investigation. As a result of that investigation. Michael Andrew Pittman Jr, 18, of Douglas and Taylor Sage Jewell, 18, of Douglas were arrested. Both individuals were booked into the Coffee County Jail and both have been released on bond pending future court dates.

 

On September 16, 2020, detectives with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office received a tip on the location of a golf cart that had recently been reported stolen. After a brief investigation into the tip, Detectives were able to locate the golf cart in Jacksonville, GA. Detectives arrested Solomon Myles Graham for theft of the golf cart. Graham, 38, of Jacksonville GA, was taking into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail where he was charged with Theft by Taking. Graham was granted a bond and released.

 

On September 18, 2020, Coffee Count Sheriff deputies met with complainant in reference to the theft of his golf cart. The complainant told officers that someone had stolen his EZ-GO Golf Cart from his residence on Red Bluff Road in Nicholls. The Criminal Investigation Division was notified of the incident. Investigators were able to link this theft with other theft cases they were working. On September 23, 2020, Coffee County deputies responded to a residence on Jim Meeks Road in Nicholls, in reference to a 4-wheeler being stolen. The complaint told deputies that hos 2018 Honda Foreman Rubicon 4-wheeler was missing from under his shelter and the chain securing the 4-wheeler had been cut. A witness in the area saw a male subject on the 4-wheeler being followed by a cream in color Volkswagen. The Criminal Investigation Division was notified and began an investigation into the complaint. Investigators were able to track the 4-wheeler tire tracks to a wooded area where the 4-wheeler was found abandoned. On September 24, 2020, detectives with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office received information about a burglary that had occurred on Mark Mobley Road. Detectives opened an investigation into the incident which resulted in several search warrants being obtained and were able to recover all items that were taken as a result of this investigation which was tied to the theft on September 18 and September 23.  With the assistance of the Alma Police Department and the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office, the golf cart was located and recovered in Alma, GA. On September 23, 2020. As a result of the investigation, Michael Chad Nipper, 32, of Nicholls, GA was charged with Burglary-First Degree, and two counts of Theft by Taking and Brandi Leann Arnold, 23, of Nicholls, GA, were arrested charged with two counts of Theft by Taking and Lawton Anthony Arnold, 28, of Nicholls, GA  was charged with Burglary-First Degree and Theft by Taking. Nipper made his first appearance and was denied bond.  Brandi Arnold and Lawton Arnold were granted bonds but remains in the Coffee County Jail.

 

On September 27, 2020, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports of damaged mail and/or mailboxes in the Chatterton area. After a brief investigation detectives located and charged two juveniles for the damage to the mailboxes which was approximately $2,000.
