Carolyn Jo Smith Clough, 82

Mrs. Carolyn Jo Smith Clough, age 82 of Douglas, passed away Friday afternoon, November 13, 2020 at 1025 North Chester Avenue, Douglas, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Clough was born March 28, 1938 to the late Joe G. Smith and the late Lavinia E. Worley Smith.

Mrs. Clough, a native of Akron, Ohio, was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include:

Her husband: Dr. John L. Clough of Douglas, GA

Daughter: Candace Lynn Clough of Douglas, GA

Son: Stanley L. Clough and wife Fara of Broxton, GA

Grandchildren: Elizabeth Taylor and husband Josh of Broxton, GA
Katie Thompson and husband Denton of Douglas, GA
Nathan Clough and wife Amelia of Broxton, GA

Sister: Nancy Boggan and husband Jack of Odenville, AL

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shep Johnson and Dr. Ray Coleman officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery.

The pallbearers for the service will be: David McDonald, Danny Hadsock, Joe Cason, Roger Johnson, Tony Grantham, Van Grantham, Zip Grantham, Tullis Allen and Marcus Ricketson.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be members of Opal Smith Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

Musical selections for the service will be furnished by B.J. Holliday.

Please note: due to Covid-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the funeral service and interment service. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with CDC guidelines. We do not furnish masks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Mrs. Clough’s memory to The Gideons International PO Box 2138 Douglas, GA 31534.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
