The City of Douglas was chartered on December 10, 1895.  To conclude several small ceremonies, that were held in October and November, in conjunction with the 125th Celebration, the City of Douglas will have an early birthday party.

In combination with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which is being organized by the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Douglas will include a Community Birthday Party.  Plans are to have a large birthday cake, reading of the Charter, and commemorative giveaways.  All festivities will take place on Friday, December 4, 2020 beginning at 5pm at Atkinson Plaza.

“We invite everyone to stop by and celebrate Douglas’ 125th year,” says Mayor Tony Paulk.  “Since our established beginning in 1895, Douglas continues to brightly shine.  We plan to culminate our 125th Anniversary, as a reminder that Douglas remains to work together to improve our quality of life and the vitality of our future.”

During the event, COVID-19 safety precautions will be observed.  For more information, please call (912) 383-0277.
