On March 4, 2021, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, community partners, and Coffee Regional Medical Center staff gathered for a socially-distanced Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Bariatric & Metabolic Center in Douglas. Situated on the first floor of the Doctors 100 Building on CRMC’s campus, the clinic was designed to facilitate great patient experience and comfort. Weight loss surgery is a life-changing journey, and our Bariatric team has created a program that provides each patient with the education and necessary tools for a successful experience.
Pioneered by Dr. Chet Royals, Douglas native and General Surgeon with CRH Surgical Group, in collaboration with Dr. Edward Lin of Emory Healthcare, the Bariatric & Metabolic Center has a comprehensive weight loss program designed to be personalized to each patient. With an on-site Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), access through TeleMed for psychological services, and a fitness center on campus, patients are given all the resources and support for a successful weight loss journey and improvement in overall health and wellbeing.
Following lengthy planning and collaboration with Emory Healthcare the Bariatric & Metabolic Center officially opened in October of 2020. As an Emory Healthcare Affiliate, CRMC is able to provide our bariatric patients with access to psychological services through Telemed and collaborate with Emory Bariatric physicians on complex cases.
