The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association has selected South Georgia State College’s Bryce Brown as this season’s final Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Brown, a 6’8″ redshirt sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds, one assist, one steal and four blocks in two games against Gordon State. Brown set a school record for eight blocks in one of those games.

For the season, Brown is averaging 14.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and shooting 59 percent from the field and 78.9 percent from the free throw line. These percentages as well as total blocks (25) place Brown in the GCAA’s top ten in all three categories.

Brown joins teammate Jalen King as the second SGSC player to receive the Player of the Week honor.

The Hawks (18-3, 12-3) are alone in second place in the GCAA standings behind Georgia Highlands with one regular season game remaining. SGSC travels to Southern Crescent Tech Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tip.

The quarterfinal round of the GCAA tournament will be played Tuesday, April 6. The top four teams in the final conference standings will host a quarterfinal game. The semifinals and tournament championship game will be played at the highest remaining seed April 9-10.

SGSC’s regular season schedule was shortened to 22 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No game or season passes were available for the 2021 season.
