The Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (G.I.C.H.) Committee and the City of Douglas are offering two free workshops in the month of April as a part of Fair Housing Month.  On April 22, 2021, at 6pm via Zoom meetings, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (D.C.A.) will moderate a Georgia Dream Homeownership workshop. The “It’s the Credit Check for Me” Financial Literacy workshop will be offered on April 29, 2021, at 6pm via Zoom meetings.

“The two workshops are being offered so that we can assist citizens who are contemplating the purchase of a new home or need help with credit issues,” says Georgia Henderson, Community Development Director.  “We want everyone to have a fair chance of acquiring their dream of homeownership.”

The Georgia Dream Program was created by D.C.A. to make homeownership possible for low and moderate-low income Georgians. The Georgia Dream Homeownership Workshop will allow participants the opportunity to learn more about D.C.A.’s program, qualifications for the program, home buyer assistance, and down payment assistance. The “It’s the Credit Check for Me” workshop will educate citizens about credit checks, credit repair, home loan approval, and money management.  This workshop will be a panel discussion moderated by local business woman, Mickeayla Clark-Brockington (BOSS Office and Start Fresh Corp.).  Panelists include Mrs. Brockington, Cory Holland (SunTrust Bank), Tyler Ware (Brewer Realty) and Breanna Ware (Brewer Realty).

Zoom meeting information for both workshops is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8965790695, Meeting ID: 896 579 0695, Dial by your location: +1 929 436 2866 US (New York), +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC), +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago), +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose), +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma), +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston).
