The City of Douglas is considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the designation of a Revitalization Area Strategy (RAS) within the Urban Development Area.  A public hearing will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, 10:00am, at the Douglas Teen Center located at Central Square Complex (200G S. Madison Avenue). The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the RAS application.

The RAS designation will provide incentives to communities who implement comprehensive redevelopment activities for targeted areas in the city.  The program rewards innovative local strategies and a commitment to redevelop a targeted area with a comprehensive, collaborative approach that includes public and private partners. A local government with a RAS designation may receive bonus points on its annual CDBG application and the ability to apply annually for CDBG funds for three years, provided that all DCA timeliness criteria are met.

For more information, please contact Georgia Henderson at (912)383-0277 or email ghenderson@cityofdouglas.com, prior to the meeting date of April 23, 2021.
