William “Bill” Otis Cater, 79

Mr. William “Bill” Otis Cater, age 79 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away, Saturday, April 07, 2021 at his home following an extended illness.


Born November 24, l941 in Berrien County, Mr. Cater was the son of Otis and Ruth Sykes Cater.  He had made his home in Willacoochee for most of his life.  He was a certified electrician and had worked for Coley Electric and Plumbing in Douglas for several years.  He was a Deacon and member of Willacoochee First Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Cater.

 

Survivors include:

 

Wife:  Betty Cater of Willacoochee, Ga.

 

Son:  Allen Cater and wife Lisa of Willacoochee, Ga.

 

Brother:  David Cater of Hahira, Ga.

 

Sister:  Ruth Browning and husband Ernest of Adel, Ga.

 

Step-Grandchildren:  James Jackson and Greg Jackson

 

Several Nieces, Nephews along with other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Cater were held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Lee officiating. Special musical selections were, “What a Friend We have In Jesus” and “When We All Get to Heaven” rendered by the church choir with Bonnie Kunberger accompanying at the piano.  Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was by Bonnie Kunberger, Pianist.  The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were Edsel Lewis, James Jackson, Greg Jackson, Scott Duggan, Tony Cater, and Conner Mills.  Honorary pallbearers were David Mixon, Zack Taylor, LaDonne Walker, Charlie Bray, Philip Knowles, John Lindsey, Chuck Corbitt, Joe Taft, Allen Mizell, Jim McCranie, Larry Taylor, M. C. Vickers, David Toole, and Wendell Burnstein.

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
