Mary Ludy Harrell, age 95, of Orange Park, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Axson, GA to Charlie and Maud Wilds, the oldest of four daughters. Mary was a member of First Baptist of Orange Park and will be fondly remembered for her love of family and commitment to her faith and her church. She was also an avid gardener and former member of Jacksonville Garden Club and African Violet Association. She worked as a hairdresser and volunteered for Orange Park Clothes Closet for many years. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and by 2 husbands, SFC Hilton George Hill, USA and Ed Harrell; and by a son, Wayne Hill.

 

She is survived by her son, George Hill; 3 sisters: Collean Hersey, Eurice Fleming, and Cloice Joiner; 2 grandchildren: Graham Hill and Amy Hill Palmer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Her family would like to acknowledge and extend a special thank-you to her many caregivers that provided such excellent care for Mrs. Harrell.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. Services led by Dr. Tim McDaniel will begin at 6:00 PM.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Pearson, GA.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care (866) 253-6681.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
