Mrs. Marie Sirmans Giddens, age 83 of Hahira, Ga., passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Ga., following an extended illness.

 

Mrs. Giddens was born in Atkinson County, on April 30, l938, daughter of Clemon and Myrtice Vining Sirmans. She had made her home in Lowndes County for most of her life and was retired from Gish Oil as a bookkeeper.  She enjoyed traveling, genealogy and being with family and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Valdosta Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Giddens, 2 sisters, Judy Camp and Sandra Carene Brant, and 3 brothers, Dale Sirmans, Berkeley Sirmans, and Maxie Sirmans.  

 

Survivors include:

 

Son:  Joel Giddens of Hahira, Ga.

 

2 Daughters:  Jill Bright and husband Converse of Hahira, Ga.

                      Jennifer Stith and husband Keith of Hahira, Ga.

 

3 Brothers:  C.F. Sirmans and wife Elaine of Tallahassee, Fl.

                    Stacy Sirmans and wife Elaine of Tallahassee, Fl.

                    Steve Sirmans and wife Cathy of Pearson, Ga.

 

Sister:  Dawn Wright of Pearson, Ga.

 

Brother-In-Law:  Bob Giddens of Eustis, Fl.

 

2 Grandchildren:  Malayna Giddens and Stuart Stith

 

Great Grandchild:  Malachi Stith

 

Several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Giddens were held, Monday, September 20, 2021, at 4:00 P.M. at Antioch Cemetery with Elder Stevie Sirmans, Elder Stacy Sirmans, and Elder C.F. Sirmans officiating. Special musicalselections included, “I Can Only Imagine” and “Scars in Heaven” rendered by c.d.  The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery with dedication of the grave given by Elder Stevie Sirmans.

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
