William “Dabo” Ottis McDonald, Jr., 83

Mr. William “Dabo” Ottis McDonald, Jr., age 83 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.  He was born January 25, 1938, in Nashville, Ga. to William Ottis, Sr. and Montez Walls McDonald.  Mr. McDonald made his home in Willacoochee, where he worked hard in the logging industry and took great pride in providing for his family.  He enjoyed staying active, whether that be talking with friends or enjoying making memories with his loved ones just sitting on the dock at the river.  Mr. McDonald was a member of the Willacoochee United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the US Army.  He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his sister, Veneta Ann Cochran.   

 

Survivors include:

 

Wife: Sally Delk McDonald of Willacoochee, Ga.

 

Daughter: Joan Harvey of Fernandina Beach. Fl.

 

2 Step-Daughters: Charlotte Scarborough and husband Elbert of Brookfield, Ga.

Brenda Chambers and husband William of Tifton, Ga.

 

Son: Joey McDonald and wife Selena of Hiawassee, Ga.     

 

2 Step-Sons:  Hal Baxley and wife Thea of Tifton, Ga.

Mark Baxley and wife Debbie of Tifton, Ga.

 

Several Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. McDonald were held, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Willacoochee United Methodist Church with Reverend Edward Mathews officiating. Special musical selections included, “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High” both by cd.  The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery with military honors of the US Flag presentation and Taps rendered by cd.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Scott Vickers, Jonathon Batten, Collin Hathorn, Brent Cumbie, Tyler Smith and John Delk.
