City accepting housing applications for CHIP assistance

The City of Douglas will begin accepting housing applications for its Community Home Investment Program 2021-106 Grant from owner-occupants at 8:00 a.m. on January 24, 2022 for owners living within the following neighborhoods only:

The Target Area includes portions of W. Railroad Street, W. Cherry Street, Magnolia Street, Willow Street, W. Baker Highway, S. Grady Avenue, S. Daughtry Avenue, and S. College Avenue as show above in the map.

 

Assistance will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis by contacting Christian Burkett with the City of Douglas at (912) 383-0277 after 8:00 a.m. on February 21, 2022 to be placed on the housing list/waiting list. The City of Douglas is committed to providing all persons with equal access to its services, programs, activities, education and employment regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability or age. Persons with special needs relating to handicapped accessibility or foreign language should contact Myra Acosta, before February 21, 2022. This person can be located at the City of Douglas Parks and Recreation Department, 200 C South Madison Ave. Douglas, GA 31533 and is available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays, or you may call 912-384-5978. Persons with hearing disabilities may consider using the Georgia Relay Service, at (TDD) 800-255-0056 or (Voice) 800-255-0135.
