Pamela (Pam) Van Horne (Taylor) Sowders, 73, entered the Kingdom of God on Monday, January 31, 2022. She was Born, July 29, 1948 in Saugus, MA the daughter of DeCourcey L. Taylor and Eva Mae (Van Horne) Taylor.

 

She graduated from Ft. Myers High School, where she enjoyed playing the saxophone and tennis. She graduated with the class of 1966. She worked as a telephone operator until her first child was born. She met Gilbert Sowders in February of 1966 and they were married on November 26, 1966. They celebrated 55 years of marriage on November 26, 2021. She held several positions at Bank of America until she retired in the mid 1990’s with rheumatoid arthritis. When her mother passed away Pam and Gil moved to Douglas, GA where they attended St Marks United Methodist Church.

 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Penelope and Marjorie and a brother, John. She is survived by her husband Gil, their four children and their spouses, Steven Wayne and his wife Nancy, Shawn Wesley and his wife Laurie, Derrick Brent and his wife Jolene, daughter Saralyn Dawn and her husband Christopher Willard. She adored her eleven grandchildren, Amberlynn Jo, Aaron Jacob, Brianna Nicole, Cheyenne Renee, Bella Christine, Alexis Joy, Tiffany Raeann, Briley Taylor, Ashley Noel, Willow Grace, Hunter Collin, and two nieces Sherri and Stacy.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St Marks United Methodist Church, 501 E. Walker Street, Douglas, GA. Those who wish to remember Pam in a special way may make gifts to St. Marks United Methodist Church.

 

Memorialization will be by cremation.

 

The obituary was submitted by the family.
