Ivey Lee “Plunkett” Kight, Sr., 83

Ivey Lee “Plunkett” Kight, Sr., age 83, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Mr. Kight was born on August 20, 1938 in Coffee County, GA to the late J.H. “Snooks” Kight and the late Christine Daniels Kight.

 

 

Survivors include: Two Sons: Jeff (Walda) Kight of Douglas, GA, Lee Kight of Broxton, GA, Stepdaughter: Cindy (Edward) Mathews of Pearson, GA, Sister: Kathy Kight (Greg) Smith of Savannah, GA, Five Grandchildren: Brandon Kight, Jordon Mathews, Lauren Kight, Ruby Grace Kight, and Gavin Kight. Mr. Kight was preceded in death by Father: J.H. “Snooks” Kight and Mother: Christine Daniels Kight, and his wife of 28 years, Linda Ellis Kight.

 

 

Mr. Kight proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the newly constructed aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62) including its shakedown cruise and maiden cruise of seven months in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the 6th Fleet. 

 

 

The family will receive friends on what would have been his 84th birthday on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Interment followed at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers will be: Darin Cliett, George Boyd, Brandon Kight, Edward Mathews, Shane Pridgen and Billy Joiner.

 

 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Reedy Branch Baptist Church in his honor.

 

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. highly encourages all guests and attendees to wear face masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.
