Dr. Jeffrey Louis Silveira Sr., a respected otolaryngologist specializing in head and neck surgery, passed away on June 14, 2023 at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Silveira was born on March 25, 1959, in Modesto, California to the late Herman Silveira and the late Rosemary Silveira.

 

 

Survivors include: Wife; Hope Medders Silveira of Douglas, GA, Four Sons; Jeff (Kasey) Silveira, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Tyler (Sarina) Silveira of Tavares, FL, Dustin (Kristin ) Patterson of Apollo Beach, FL, Dalton (Amber) Patterson of Valrico, FL, Six Grandchildren; Dayton Patterson, Dalson Patterson, Tinley Patterson, Ryker Patterson, Amberleigh Patterson and Roman Fine, One Brother; Dwayne Silveira of Manteca, CA, One Sister; Christine Silveira of Largo, FL, Mother in Law and Father in Law; Anna Faye and Charles Davis of Dublin, GA, Brothers and Sisters in Law; Becky and Tony Piccolin of Pennsylvania, Michael and Annette Medders of Douglas, GA, Daniel and Stacey Medders of Alto, GA, David and Teresa Medders of Gainsville, GA, Michelle and Dr. Mike Pinell of Jekyll Island, Hank and Regina Colley of Blackshear, GA, Nathan Medders of Jesup, GA, Christy and Sam Tang of Dublin, GA, Rachel and Pastor Grant Abernathy of Perry, GA, Over Ninety Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews who loved him dearly! He was preceded in death by Father; Herman Louis Silveira and Mother; Rosemary Silveira, One Brother; James (Jim) Silveira, and his Fathers in Law; Thomas Jackson (Jack) Medders and Ira Leon Beverly, and a Brother in Law; Ken J. Brady.

 

 

Dr. Jeffrey L. Silveira dedicated his life to the medical profession and touched the lives of many patients throughout his career.

 

 

Dr. Silveira pursued his undergraduate education at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA, from 1981 to 1987. He earned his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, in 1987. Following medical school, he completed an internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, from July 1987 to June 1988.

 

 

Continuing his professional training, Dr. Silveira undertook a residency in otolaryngology head and neck surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, from July 1990 to June 1994. During his residency, he also served as a General Medical Officer at Landsthul Regional Army Medical Center in Landsthul, West Germany, from 1988 to 1990.  Dr. Silveira served in the Army as a Major from 1987-1996.

 

 

Dr. Silveira’s dedication to his field was evident through his double board certifications from The American Board of Otolaryngology in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastics. Also had a love for sleep medicine where he took pride in helping many patients find a cure or improve their quality of life. He opened his medical practice in Douglas, GA in 1996.  He would go on to open offices in Tifton and Waycross, and an ambulatory surgery center and physical therapy center in Douglas where overall he staffed approximately 80 staff members.  Dr. Jeffrey Louis Silveira was not only an exceptional medical professional but also a strong Christian man whose faith played an integral role in his interactions with patients. He approached his practice with compassion and would often pray with each of his patients before surgery, providing them with comfort and solace during their challenging times.

 

 

As a testament to his caring nature, Dr. Silveira would often gift his patients with a teddy bear, symbolizing warmth and support, along with a Bible, representing his commitment to faith and healing. Many of his patients cherished these gifts, and years later, they still hold onto their stuffed animals as a reminder of Dr. Silveira’s kindness and the lasting impact he had on their lives.

 

 

Dr. Silveira’s unwavering dedication to his patients, combined with his deep-rooted faith, created a unique bond that extended beyond the operating room. His genuine care for their well-being left a lasting impression, and his patients will always remember him as a remarkable physician who brought both medical expertise and spiritual comfort into their lives.

 

 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Silveira was known for his compassion, professionalism, and dedication to his patients. He approached his work with empathy, providing personalized care and ensuring the well-being of those he treated. 

 

 

Dr. Silveira’s presence will be deeply missed by his colleagues, patients, friends, and family. His legacy as a compassionate physician and dedicated surgeon will continue to inspire others in the medical community for years to come.

 

 

In addition to his professional achievements and unwavering faith, Dr. Jeffrey Louis Silveira had a deep love for spending time with his family and being on the ocean. When he wasn’t attending to the needs of his patients, he could often be found by the water, where he found comfort and peace.

 

 

Dr. Silveira’s connection to the ocean was a source of inspiration and rejuvenation for him. Whether it was taking his family on a beach vacation, walking along the shore, feeling the sand beneath his feet, or simply gazing at the vast expanse of the sea, he found tranquility in its presence. The ocean’s beauty and power served as a reminder of the wonders of nature and the importance of finding moments of serenity amidst life’s demands.

 

 

Family was of utmost importance to Dr. Silveira, and he cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. He valued the moments shared, creating lasting memories through family gatherings, vacations, and simple everyday interactions. His dedication to his family was a testament to his character, as he prioritized their well-being and nurtured the bonds that held them together.

 

 

Dr. Silveira’s love for the ocean and his devotion to his family were an integral part of his identity. These aspects of his life brought him joy and balance, allowing him to navigate the challenges of his profession with grace and a sense of grounding. His legacy will live on through the memories of cherished family moments and the inspiration drawn from his connection to nature’s wonders.

 

 

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Covenant Church with Pastor Gregory Pope, officiating, Eulogy given by David Wolfe, Gwin Jarriel and Dr. Bahvdipkumar G. Patel, MD., sharing special memories. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in California. Active Pallbearers will be: Daniel Medders, David Medders, Nathan Medders, Hank Colley, Mike Pinnell, and Dave Martini. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Bahvdipkumar G. Patel, M.D., Dr. C.J. Reddy, M.D., Dr. Conrad Harper, M.D., Dr. Dushyant J. Patel, M.D., and Dr. Hemachandran P. Nair, M.D..
