Jenna Williams, a junior biology major from Douglas, has been selected as the new president of the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Ambassadors for the 2023-24 academic year.

“The Ambassador program played a significant role in my college decision-making process,” Williams said. “From the moment I had my tour, I knew I wanted to be part of this program, guiding and assisting students in making the right college choices. Becoming the president of this esteemed organization is truly a dream come true. Having served as our Historian last year and having learned from our previous president, I’m incredibly excited to embark on this journey.”

The Ambassadors, one of the most prestigious student leadership organizations at ABAC, represent the college in various campus functions and in the community.

“In the capacity of Ambassador President, I am actively engaged in shaping the future generation of our talented future Stallions,” Williams said. “Holding the position of President of the Ambassadors and the position of Vice President in the SGA further enables me to foster connections between incoming students and our existing Stallion community. My sincere aspiration is to facilitate a seamless ABAC journey for every student, ensuring they embark on a path of success and growth.”

Williams has been a member of the Ambassadors for two years. She also serves as President in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Vice-President in the Student Government Association, is actively involved in the Campus Activities Board’s Executive Board, serves as an Orientation Leader for the Stallion Society, and is a member of ABAC’s honors program.

Williams hopes to earn her bachelor’s degree from ABAC before applying to medical school.

Assistant Director of Enrollment Management Sunny Ross Sparrow, one of the advisors to the Ambassador organization, said she is looking forward to the upcoming year and selecting the best ABAC students to become Ambassadors.

“I am excited to see what this new year holds for this excellent group of students,” Sparrow said. “We have a lot of returning Ambassadors this year but are excited to welcome some new faces. The Ambassadors are essential to helping us recruit for the college. Most of the time, the Ambassadors give prospective students their first look at campus. It’s important that they exemplify knowledge and passion for the school to share with these families and hopeful future Stallions.”

An Ambassador’s duties include giving official campus tours, hosting visiting dignitaries, and assisting with on and off-campus functions.

Williams said that a campus tour given by an Ambassador is what drew her to attend ABAC.

“ABAC originally captured my attention with its exceptional hands-on learning opportunities, such as internships, faculty-mentored research, study abroad, and other experiential learning programs, as well as their strong commitment to community outreach through their wide array of clubs and organizations,” Williams said. “My decision to attend ABAC was solidified during a group tour led by one of their Ambassadors. This Ambassador skillfully brought me out of my shell and sparked my interest in the college, ultimately influencing my choice to enroll here.”

Ambassadors must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and earn a minimum of 35 hours per semester in duties supporting the Enrollment Management and Marketing and Communication offices.

For more information about the Ambassador program, including an online application, interested students can visit www.abac.edu/clubs-and-organizations or contact Sparrow at sross@abac.edu and at 229-391-5018. Applications for Fall semester are due by August 25.
