It doesn’t like the Department of Community Supervision classes were doing much good for Marterrius Wertz, 29, of Alma.

On July 27, detectives from the Coffee County Drug Unit were watching a vehicle that the officers believed was involved in drug trafficking in the area. Wertz, a passenger in the vehicle, got out of the vehicle and attempted to leave once it was stopped, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Wertz and the officers ended up in a fight before the officers gained control. They found that Wertz had 24 grams of suspected cocaine. Wertz, who was on probation, stated that he was on his way to DCS classes at the time.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and felony obstruction of law enforcement.
