The 19 defendants named last week in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s indictment regarding alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 president election are beginning to negotiate bond deals as they prepare to turn themselves in. The defendants have until Friday to do so; former President Donald Trump, one of the 19 indicted, has said he will turn himself in Thursday.

Cathy Latham, former chair of the Coffee County Republican Party, was also one of those indicted. According to Fulton County court documents, her attorney has negotiated a $75,000 bond when she turns herself in.

Latham was indicted on 11 charges: Violation of the Georgia RICO act ($25,000), impersonating a public officer ($5,000), forgery in the first degree ($5,000), false statements and writing ($5,000), filing false documents ($5,000), and six counts of criminal conspiracy ($5,000 for each count).

The court also gave her six conditions she must obey. Among them are: Report to pretrial supervision every 30 days which may be done by phone; not violate federal, state, or local laws; appear in court as directed; do not intimidate any codefendant or witness in the case; do not communicate with any codefendant in the case except through their counsel; do not communicate the facts of the case with any witness.

Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee signed the order on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

Nine other defendants have also negotiated bond deals, including Trump. His bond is pre-set at $200,000.  Former Coffee County elections supervisor Misty Hampton, who was also indicted, does not yet have a bond deal in place.
