James E. ‘Jim’ Dorminey, 80

Mr. James E. “Jim” Dorminey of Newnan, GA passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. 

 

 

Born February 7, 1943, Mr. Dorminey was the son of the late Furman and Betty Merritt Dorminey. He served in and retired from the Georgia National Guard and also retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. A resident of Coweta County since 1971, he was a member of Harrisonville Baptist Church. He also loved hunting, fishing and getting out and riding around. 

 

 

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Dorminey; sons and daughter in-law, Chad and Cheryl Dorminey and Clint Dorminey; step-sons and daughters in-law, Robert and Tabitha Horn and William and Paige Horn; sisters and brother in-law, Latrette and Earl Hann and Lynette Latham; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Dorminey and Warren Dorminey. 

Mr. Dorminey’s visitation in Hogansville, GA will be held Wednesday evening, August 23, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home – 208 Johnson Street – Hogansville, GA 30230. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. 

 

 

After the services in Hogansville, GA, Mr. Dorminey will be transported to Ricketson Funeral Home in Douglas, GA. 

 

 

Mr. Dorminey’s visitation in Douglas, GA will be held Friday evening, August 25. 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. 

The funeral service will be Saturday morning, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Gilbert officiating. The interment will follow at St. Illa Missionary Baptist Cemetery. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of all local arrangements.
