Running back Fred Brown may have had the most rushing yards with 166 in Friday night’s 51-0 win over the Statesboro Blue Devils but senior ATH Anthony Paulk had the most complete game.

Paulk has been on the fringes of breaking out all year long. Primarily a defensive player, he would get an opportunity or two each game on the offensive side of the ball. When he did, he showed that he had the ability to break a game wide open.

Friday night, Paulk finally showed what he really can do with the ball in his hands. “How about Anthony Paulk? You know I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting and slowly repping him in there,” said head coach Mike Coe following the game. Paul had two carries for 72 yards and a touchdown, a 66-yard kick return for a touchdown, one reception for 14 yards, three tackles, and an interception.

While Paulk was flying all over the field making plays on both sides of the ball, Brown was racking up more yards on his way to setting the single-season school rushing record. Louis Smith set the record in 1997 with 1,287 yards. Brown’s 166 yards puts him at 1,127 yards for the season with three games remaining. Brown has averaged 161 yards per game this season so it’s very likely that he breaks the record at Homecoming Friday night against Jenkins.

Defensively, junior linebacker Jyarius Carter terrorized the Blue Devils with 13 tackles (two for a loss). Senior Lorenzo Harvey had eight and junior Chris Reed followed with six.

The Trojans face Jenkins Friday night at Jardine Stadium at Homecoming. Game time is set for 7:30.
