On a picturesque fall morning, November 2, 2023, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce hosted a momentous ribbon-cutting celebration to mark the grand opening of BE Safe Climate Storage. The brand new facility, located at 526 Bowens Mill Rd SW in Douglas, is locally owned and operated by proud Douglas natives Will Brawner and Ben Evans.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was an event filled with excitement and community spirit. The crowd was welcomed by Chamber of Commerce Member Relations Director, Chelsea Preston, who introduced BE Safe Climate Storage to the local community. Pastor of GracePointe Church and Chamber Board Member, Chris Watson, led a heartfelt prayer and blessed the business and the two families embarking on this exciting new venture.

City of Douglas Mayor, Tony Paulk, took the stage to acknowledge the rapid growth of the community and express gratitude to Brawner and Evans for recognizing the need for additional storage units. He commended them for choosing to play a pivotal role in the development and growth of Douglas.

Dr. Tracy McClelland, Chair of the Chamber Board and representative of the Medical Institute of South Georgia, highlighted the rapid growth and development of Douglas-Coffee County, proclaiming, “With our wonderful growth and development, Douglas is starting to feel like a big city.” She warmly welcomed Brawner and Evans into the Chamber of Commerce family and expressed her gratitude for their significant contribution to the region’s prosperity.

The event was not only a celebration of a new business but also an opportunity for Brawner and Evans to express their appreciation. Will Brawner recognized and thanked those who supported them throughout this new venture, including Ron and Mitch Lewis from Charles E. Lewis construction for their efficient work, Stephen Lewis of First National Bank of Coffee County for his financial expertise, and their dedicated family and friends for their unwavering support.

Ben Evans took a moment to emphasize the need for more storage units and attributed the inception of BE Safe Climate Storage to the outstanding leadership that has shaped the community over the decades. He stated, “We are grateful for the outstanding leadership that has graced Douglas and Coffee County over the last several decades. The growth and development that brought on the need for more storage units couldn’t have been done without our leaders who have invested and believed in our community over the years.”

Surrounded by family, friends, and community leaders, Brawner and Evans proudly cut the ribbon in front of their new business, symbolizing the start of an exciting journey that will serve the community’s storage needs for years to come.

BE Safe Climate Storage is now open and ready to serve the Douglas community. For inquiries, please contact them at 912-393-0000. Will Brawner can be reached at 912-381-4091, and Ben Evans can be reached at 912-383-2375.

The Chamber of Commerce is proud to celebrate this wonderful addition to our community and support the local entrepreneurs who are helping Douglas continue to flourish and thrive.
