Around 5 a.m. on December 5, 2023, a deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office stopped a man riding a bicycle with no lights. The stop led to an arrest, and the suspect, Andre Petione Brockington, 53, had several active warrants and was jailed as a result.

The incident report states that the deputy saw Brockington come out from behind Vickers Music in front his patrol car and cross West Baker Highway. According to the report, the bike “did not have any lights as required by state law.” When the officer activated his lights, Brockington hit the curb and fell off his bike. The officer turned in behind Deep South Fuels to speak with Brockington. However, the report says that Brockington started to walk away. He crossed West Baker on foot, heading back behind Vickers Music. Eventually, Brockington stopped, the report says.

When the officer spoke with Brockington, he admitted to drinking. A check through 911 showed that Brockington had several active warrants pending. He was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail, where he remains. Brockington was charged with equipment requirements on bicycles, failure to yield when entering or crossing a roadway, probation violation for possession of cocaine, theft by shoplifting, theft by taking, and criminal trespass.
